Bird Watching. 

The Forest of Bowland is an  excellent place for the Bird Watcher. With a huge variety from Hen Harriers to wading birds such as redshank and snipe. Bowland Festival which includes  many events highlighting the local bird life is held in early June. More details of all events can be found on the Bowland Festival Website.


Slaidburn's May Queen Festival will be held on the last Sunday and Monday in May. 


Slaidburn Steam and Vintage Vehicle Display is held in mid-June. There is always a colourful variety of Steam Engines, Vintage Cars, Vintage Tractors and Fairground Organs. There is a craft fair, lots of side shows, rural crafts and Children's Fairground. 


The Ribble Valley Vintage Rally is usually held in mid-August. Check back for further details later in the season.


The Annual Hodder Valley Show is held annually in September.

Permits and Licences for fishing on the River Hodder can be obtained from Slaidburn Village Stores and Post Office.

These cost:-

£7   per day

£20 per week
