Riverbank Tearooms Environmental Action Plan

Recycle glass, paper cans and plastic where possibe.

Are looking for local composter of uncooked waste.

Are trying to change to green energy tariff.

Are assessing energy usage of all equipment.

Food waste collected by Ribble Valley Council.

We minimise litter by encouraging customers to take ceramic mugs, crockery etc to car on trays rather than use polystyrene cups and plastic bags, (use paper Butty bags). We have a rubbish bin outside shop for lolly sticks and wrappers etc. We send staff out onto the village green to pick up any litter.

Encourage other small local businesses, by displaying their advertising leaflets. Display work by local artists upstairs in the cafe.

To encourage visitors to stay and walk in area rather than drive around, have a selection of local maps and walks and have printed 8 circular walks from the cafe, people can for a small donation borrow them for the day. Donations split between Air Ambulance and Mountain Rescue.

Have wheelchair access and table specifically suited to wheelchair users can be booked in advance.
